Help Centre
Everything you need to run ArticleFM on your iPhone or iPad — and a real person at [email protected] when the answer isn't here.
Getting help
Email [email protected] and a human will read it. It is a monitored mailbox, not an auto-responder.
We aim to reply to every message within 2 working days (Monday to Friday, UK public holidays excluded). If something is urgent — you have been charged incorrectly, or you cannot access your account — say so in the subject line.
To get a useful answer on the first reply, include: the email address on your ArticleFM account, your iOS version and device, and — for a conversion problem — the URL of the article that failed.
For privacy and data protection requests specifically, write to [email protected]. You can also use the contact form.
How the free tier works
You can convert 2 articles for free. That is a lifetime total for your account, not a monthly allowance — once you have used both, converting another article requires an active ArticleFM Monthly subscription.
You need an ArticleFM account to convert your own articles. Without signing in, you can still open the app and play the built-in sample articles to hear what the voices sound like.
Articles you converted while on the free tier stay in your library and remain playable, including offline, whether or not you subscribe.
Subscribing, and how to cancel
There is one paid product: ArticleFM Monthly, at £4.99 per month (US$4.99 in the US; local pricing varies by App Store territory). It renews automatically each month until you cancel. There is no annual plan.
To subscribe: open ArticleFM, go to Settings → Subscription, and confirm the purchase. Payment is charged to your Apple Account.
To cancel: you cannot cancel from inside ArticleFM — Apple manages the subscription, so cancellation happens in your Apple Account settings:
- On iPhone or iPad: Settings → tap your name → Subscriptions → ArticleFM → Cancel Subscription.
- Apple's own instructions: How to cancel a subscription from Apple.
Cancelling stops the next renewal. You keep full access until the end of the period you have already paid for. Cancel at least 24 hours before the period ends, or Apple will charge the next month.
Restoring a purchase: if you reinstall the app or move to a new device, go to Settings → Subscription → Restore Purchases, signed in with the same Apple Account that bought the subscription.
Refunds
All ArticleFM subscriptions are sold by Apple through in-app purchase, so refunds are handled by Apple, not by ArticleFM. We cannot issue, approve, or reverse a charge on your Apple Account.
Request a refund at reportaproblem.apple.com, signed in with the Apple Account used for the purchase. Apple decides the outcome.
Nothing here affects your statutory rights under UK or EU consumer law. If you believe you have a refund claim we should know about, email [email protected] and we will help you raise it with Apple.
Deleting your account
You can delete your ArticleFM account from inside the app: Settings → Delete Account, then confirm. This is permanent.
Deleting the account removes your profile, your library and converted audio, and your saved preferences. Deleting your account does not cancel an active subscription — Apple bills that, so you must cancel it separately in your Apple Account settings.

Which articles are supported
ArticleFM works with news sites, blogs, newsletters, and long-form essays — publicly reachable web pages whose main content is text. You can paste a URL, paste the text directly, or send a page to ArticleFM from Safari using the iOS Share Extension.
A conversion can fail when:
- The page is behind a login or subscription wall, so there is no article text for us to read.
- The content is mainly video, audio, or images rather than text.
- The page is generated entirely by scripts, or blocks automated readers.
- The article is extremely long and exceeds our per-article limit.
- It is a PDF or a document rather than a web page.
If a conversion fails: try pasting the article text directly instead of the URL — that works in most of the cases above. If it still fails, send us the URL at [email protected] and we will look at it. A failed conversion does not count against your free articles.
Playback and offline downloads
Audio won't play. Check the ringer/silent switch and the volume, confirm the article finished converting (it shows a duration when it is ready), and make sure no other app has taken over audio output. Force-quitting and reopening ArticleFM clears most stuck-player states.
Playback stops when I lock the screen. It shouldn't — ArticleFM plays in the background. If it stops, check that iOS Low Power Mode isn't aggressively suspending the app, and that Background App Refresh is enabled for ArticleFM in iOS Settings.
Bluetooth or CarPlay controls behave oddly. Disconnect and reconnect the device, then restart playback from inside ArticleFM so the controls re-bind to the current article.
Offline downloads. Save an article for offline listening from the article's menu. Downloads need a working connection to complete, and they are stored on the device — deleting and reinstalling the app removes them, and you will need to download them again. If a download is stuck, delete it and re-save the article.
Changing speed. Playback speed can be set to 0.75×, 1×, 1.25×, 1.5×, 1.75×, or 2× from the player, including while audio is playing.
Still stuck? Email [email protected] with your device model and iOS version.
Voices
ArticleFM has 25 narrator voices: 9 standard (Alloy, Ash, Coral, Echo, Fable, Nova, Onyx, Sage, Shimmer) and 16 premium (Brian, Daniel, Sarah, Lily, George, Bill, Roger, Charlie, River, Alice, Matilda, Will, Jessica, Eric, Bella, Chris).
You can preview any voice before converting, and set a default voice in your profile so new articles use it automatically.
Privacy and your data
Our Privacy Policy sets out what we collect, who processes it, how long we keep it, and the rights you have under UK and EU GDPR.
To exercise any of those rights — access, correction, erasure, restriction, portability, or objection — email [email protected]. We respond within one month, as the law requires.
ArticleFM does not use your data for advertising and does not track you across other companies' apps or websites.
